So I've wanted to make a league for quite some time, but I always feel that it is nicer if all 24 owners have a say in how a league is built. In the Baseball sim there were a few leagues that I was in where every owner that joined created a rule. It will create something unique, fairly sure that no two teams will be identical and essentially the theme would go as follows.

So lets say I am the first owner to post a rule, I could say that everyone needs to have a 'Williams' on their roster. Now who they choose is their own call and how they use them will also be to their discretion. Obviously the rule needs to make sense and can't pigeon hole the draft process, if it makes sense the rules should essentially end off with a bunch of players blacklisted, whilst also giving us our salary cap etc. Hopefully it all makes sense, but yeah maybe this will be an idea that is liked. So whoever wants to join first can post the first rule of the league. I'll say first off that the rules are not meant to be straight forward, so saying 'everyone has to have wilt' is a stupid rule, but stating that 'no mvps can be taken' broadens our possible teams and the depths will be larger

Owners
1. Logain
2. Malone
3. Badja
4. Eleibowitz

Rules
1. Must draft a player that qualifies at 100% at PG or SG and the season must be between 1960-61 to 1969-70
2. Must draft and start a player that was in the ABA and the drafted season must be an ABA season
3. You may not draft any players that did not attend a college in the United States for at least 1 full season.
4. No player drafted can have more than 300 three-point attempts

We did a bunch of these in hockey, they were crazy hard sometimes. Like you must draft 3 pairs of brothers, you must draft players from 5 different countries, you must draft 2 players with no goals.. 24 of those rules. Sometimes it was impossible.

that being said, I think it could be hard to satisfy 24 rules with only 12 players.

I will give this a shot though and see where it goes. You must draft 1 "guard" from the 1960s. That is, a player that is 100% at either PG or SG from a season between 1960-1961 and 1969-1970

I love this idea.  I'm pretty committed atm, so I'm wishy washy if I'll make it in.

I am in.

My rule is that you must start one player from the ABA and it must be during an ABA season.

updated at the top with the rules, obviously these two rules could both be covered together, that is the beauty of the rules with more to follow

I like the idea a lot!  However, some of the rules can be more or less be averted by using a min. salary guy on them.

My rule would be: You may not draft any players that did not attend a college in the United States for at least 1 full season.

With 24 rules, I am hoping that certain things can't be averted in the end, I won't select my rule until #12, updated at the top. Might be tough getting 24 different owners, but hopefully it'll pick up, the ball is rolling

there are tons of kinds of rules to make

- could blacklist certain players
- set the cap
- set limits on minutes
- decide about rookies.. use them, not, how good are they etc.
- clone rules
- limiting specific stats.. like def, shooting %, 3 pts..

in the end, yes, you will probably draft scrubs to fill certain rules.. but it may not be the same rule for everyone. Can get crazy.

Exactly, the possibilities are endless and I think with certain rules we will see so many unique teams in the end.
