I just had a FA pitcher sign with another team for less money than I was offering (unless I'm missing a bonus somewhere, he signed for 50 mil spread out over five years, my offer was for 45.8 mil in five years with a 10 mil bonus plus a no trade clause and player option on the last year).
He did sign with the better team (qualified as the NL wild card whereas my team wasn't even close to play off contention) and I had already signed another type A FA pitcher things that I've heard can be factors in wild card consideration.
Is this unusual? It irritates me because I lead several times for 24 hour periods and he still held out until the last second before signing. Granted my other pitcher signed very quickly so it sort of balances out, but still is frustrating.
