My brother and I were playing a live game and ended up with a huge difference in opinions. I'd like to throw it out there for anyone else to comment on please.

I have a team that is in a playoff hunt currently 2 games out of 1st and hold the wildcard slot slightly. My brothers team is out of any race.

In the top of the 8th inning with a 6 run lead, 7 - 1,  I am up to bat as he is the home team and has 2 innings to bat still. Jeter takes a pitch off the knee goes to 1st. I steal 2nd base with Jeter, Cano draws a walk,  A-Rod k's, Teixera flew out and Swisher k's. No runs.

I mention in chat that I am padding stats a bit to try and get Jeter to 100 steals and felt that in a playoff race that I didn't want him to catch me in 2 more at bats. 6 runs in 2 innings has been done before folks. The stench from the previous game in which I lead the entire game 1 - 0 only to see him beat me in 10 innings was still pretty fresh as well.

So, he starts ******** up a storm to me saying he can't believe that I would do that to him and that nobody runs with a 6 run lead. We exchanged some choice emails and agree to disagree. I won the game 7-3.

You wouldn't have gotten me even if I'd have stumbled on a pitch out.

These unwritten rules are amazing to me.  I'm going to comment on this as in RL, not WIS.  These are PROFESSIONAL athletes.  If you are losing 6-0 in the 5th inning is the other team supposed to stop trying?  They have nothing to gain by having things like bunting, stealing taken out of their arsenal.  Who was the first person to think this was appropriate?  How dare you run the score up on me?  Really!!  if you don't like it...stop them!  You are professional athletes after all.  This is like the NFL only run the ball if you are up by three or four touchdowns unwritten rule.  Last thing I want to do to my RB is give him the ball and let the LB's tee off on him because EVERYBODY in the whole country knows we have to run.  It's absurd.  I played in rugby games that I have won and lost by 100 points and as long as it was clean, we shook hands and drank beer after the game.  If a team starting taking it easy on me I would have found that insulting.  Back to baseball, it's a nine inning game.  If I'm winning by six runs and have a runner on first its up to me if I want to risk that runner by stealing - there should be no headhunting if he steals.  And where the H..E...double toothpicks did the idea come from that it's manly if you do something I don't like I'm going to take a baseball and throw it at you from 60 feet away at 90MPH?  Complete chicken sh** if you ask me.
