1962 PROGRESSIVE NEEDS 4 TO EXPAND Topic

We have ONE opening for an American League Expansion team for the 1962 season.....
The Post War League has progressed from 1946 to 1961 and is adding 4 expansion teams for the 1962 season.  Three team have already been claimed....

The league current has 12 members, by expanding to 16 we will have 4 teams in the post season....

Available are....

American League:
Washington Senators
Boston Red Sox
Detroit Tigers

Rosters will be created by first drafting 12 players from the existing teams in the league.....and then the last 13 players will come in the 1962 rookie draft.  We also carry 4 AAA players drafted after the regular draft has finished.

EXPANSION DRAFT:  Each existing franchise in the Post War League will be able to protect 12 players on their roster.  This is slightly more than a 25 player roster, the list also includes any players on the DL/IR for the 1962 season as well as their 4 AAA players.
Then the 4 expansion teams will draft a total of 12 UNPROTECTED  players from these rosters.  All existing franchises will lose 4 players each.  Once a team has lost its 4th player, all unprotected players on that roster are now protected for the rest of the draft.  All rounds of the draft will snake, going 1-4 then 4-1 for each of the 12 rounds.

ROOKIE DRAFT:  After the extisting 12 teams make their final cuts the league will do its regular rookie draft of all rookies, free agents and cut players....The 4 Expansion teams will draft in the 1 thru 4 positions......the expansion teams only will draft in snake order 1-4 then 4-1, alternating in each round.  The 12 existing teams will draft 5-16 based on worst record and NOT snake as usual.

The expansion team that drafts first in the Expansion Draft will draft 4th in the Rookie Draft, the same inverse order will apply to all draft slots.....

YOUR DRAFT POSITION WILL BE:
1st in the Expansion Draft
4th in the Rookie Draft

I will take Franchise C - Washington Senators.

Is there a DH or Salary Cap?

Well assuming that I do join this league which I am hoping too tentatvie to when the expansion draft starts I will take Ftanchise A and Houston Colt 45s can I just rename them the Astros now?

I'll jump in with the Braves and Franchise B if Blues joins.  If he doesn't, I'll take Franchise A.

No DH
We have not discussed if there will be one when '73 rolls around.....
No Salary Cap, we go deep into the talent pool with the additional AAA players....
The Ad went up with the realignment for our 1961 season....we are just over 40 days away from game-120....
I should also mention that we do not figure out the draft order until the season is over....except the 4 expansion teams that will draft 1-4 (these 4 teams will snake).
We go with historical team names, and franchise shifts and stadiums.....Billy D would make a great manager....
We are taking 2 AL teams and 2 NL teams.....so first come first serve gives us.....

AL
werewolf                  Los Angeles Angels            FRANCHISE D
bheid408                 Washington Senators         FRANCHISE C

NL
blues322                 Houston Colt 45s                 FRANCHISE A
busterglen               Milwaukee Braves                FRANCHISE B

This holds if blues322 chooses in........
Protected players will not be announced until 40 days or so from now, cannot do it earlier because rosters are not final and trades will be made before the deadline, we do trade frequently.  You can get an idea who will be kept from viewing our rosters....
If you do not know how to do that, click on my name/then click on my simleague baseball teams/then the league number for my New York Yankees....this won't appear until we play our first game on 9/14....
This gives you all plenty of time to research......let me know if its too long and you do not wish to join....

Thank you for responding and Good Luck,
Gregg

16 teams will align into 2 divisions (East and West) in each league.....Division alignment will prioritize as follows.....

1)  1 Expansion team in each division.  This is a must.
2)  Historical East/West alignment (as from 1969 to 1993).
3)  Modern Alignment.
4)  Anything else that might make sense, like geography, but this is the 4th priority.
9/14/2011 2:28 AM
NL EAST:
Chicago Cubs
Milwaukee Braves
Pittsburgh Pirates
St. Louis Cardinals

NL WEST:
Cincinnati Reds
Houston Colt 45s
Los Angeles Dodgers
San Francisco Giants

AL EAST:
Baltimore Orioles
Cleveland Indians
New York Yankees
Washington Senators

AL WEST:
Chicago White Sox
Kansas City A's
Los Angeles Angels
Minnesota Twins

The only decision to explain is Houston/Milwaukee and who goes east, they were both historically West Division Teams (with the Braves in Atlanta).  But the Braves went East in the split to 3 divisons, plus they always should have been in the East geographically.  The only other relevant thought are the Milwaukee Brewers in their AL days, they spent time in both divisions, but spent more time in the East.
