This morning, my Kentucky St. team (DII Smith) upset Tuskegee to make the NT.  There are 5 teams from my conference in the NT.

I'm a #16 seed and facing Tuskegee again tonight.

Doesn't WIS have a rule against 1st round rematches?   I could understand it if we qualified 8 or 9 teams but there are only 5!

they used to, I don't think it got written in to the new engine. There's threads out there somewhere, but probably hard to find - I'll see what I can chase up...someone did send a ticket I believe...

eta: I can't find it - its not called what I thought it was. I thought I had it in "my forums" but maybe it got moved down too far...

My team is facing a conference opponent in the first round on the PI. Request one of the teams be moved to a different bracket so we do not face each other.

I see that this has been forwarded up, but I haven't received a response on the matter. This is time critical, please fix this issue.

Kevin,

We try to avoid conference matchups in the first round, but sometimes it happens. If time permits we will make a change in the National Tournament, but we're no longer adjusting the bracket for the PI.

What's the rational for reseeding a NT but not a PI game? Both matter in terms of recruiting money earned for the conference. Also this seems to be a recurring issue, is this on the agenda to be fixed?

It doesn't happen often, but yes we do plan on fixing it when we redo the tournament selection process.

We don't like changing matchups because that can obviously affect gameplanning, and if one of the affected coaches planned for one opponent and then didn't check back in during the day, then they would never know that the opponent changed.

Response from CS:

Nothing has changed in quite a while, so it's not a new problem. Most likely it's something that is just popping up more often now as a side effect of something else, possibly lower human enrollment in worlds.

I believe it only happens with #1 seeds. Unfortunately we're no longer changing tournament brackets for same-conference matchups. It's a problem changing matchups on other coaches who may have game-planned already
