Re-Engineer the HoF voting page Topic

I know its been brought up before. Just want to re-inforce it.

Mordecai usually votes in 1-2 players per season. THis year, EVERYONE is having problems with the page. I have voted for guys, then gone back in afterwards, and found my votes applied to other players. Other people can't get the page to load at all. The entire thing is a clusterfuck.

We'll probably vote nobody in this season because everyone is fed up with the design of the stupid page.

Excellent suggestion - fix it or eliminate it imo.

Eliminating the pictures and adding more stats would probably make it a lot better.

Also eliminate players from the ballot if they don't get any votes in any year.

Only problem with that is that I've seen players listed as being on the ballot the previous season who received no votes who were AI nominated and certainly worthy of receiving votes.  I don't remember seeing them on the ballot the season before because some of these guys would have received my vote.

My guess is that what happens on those occasions is that they retire after going unsigned at the end of spring training and get AI nominated and are added to the ballot at the last minute, quite literally.  After everybody who is going to vote has already voted.

You don't want' those guys dropping off the ballot for receiving no votes.

My suggestion:

1)  Don't add these guys to the ballot at the last minute.  The ballots are fixed as of when voting starts.

2)  When a guy gets nominated by an owner, he tends to stay on the ballot indefinitely until he is explicitly removed.  Owner nominated guys should not be carried over from season to season, they should need to be explicitly re-nominated each season.

3)  If an AI nominated guy gets no votes in some season, he no longer can be AI nominated in future seasons.  However, he can be eligible for re-nomination by an owner.

Very good points, tec.  Make it so, admin.

I can't even get into the Fingers Nomination Page right now.  Been trying for 2 days and it keeps giving me error messages.  The HOF is a mess.

Same issue with UBA. This needs to be a #1 priority.

HOF voting needs a lot of attention.  Personally it's important to me and it frustrates me that not a lot of people vote.  One of my suggestions previously was to add one DiTR to anybody who votes for the HOF.  Sure the DiTR will probably be a crap player who goes to slightly less crappy (A whole new discussion for a different thread) but I think the chance of hitting a jackpot is worth the 3 minutes it takes to vote.

Other changes need to be made as well... but I think some kind of incentive to vote would work.

The HoF voting page has to be streamlined in some way, it's so clunky and glitchy (I see votes showing up that I didn't make) that it's a serious pain in the *** to use.   this is priority number one in my opinion.

While incentive is nice, this idea isn't well thought out.  What prevents an owner from just going in and voting for the first guy on the list just to get the DITR?

Absolutely nothing

Seems like a poor solution then.

I like it better than your solution -- just get rid of it.  I like the HOF and want it to stay.

Maybe get one extra DiTR if any player you voted for actually gets inducted, which means that if you actually take a couple minutes and vote for the most worthy of players and the guy gets inducted, then you'll have 2 DiTRs.  So voting for the first player without a thought gets you something... but taking an extra couple minutes gets you twice as much.
