My team, the Richmond Riot in Diamondback, is a team with good position players and a good offense, but they lack pitching. I was wondering what I should do with this staff, and who should be starting. Right now it is Campos, Cedeno, Fernandez, Benjamin, and Coles starting, but I've heard that Henderson should be starting. What are the thoughts on my staff?

After a quick glance, I'd probably rate Henderson as your third best SP after Campos and Benjamin. His biggest flaw is a low GB/FB ratio, so you may want to swap him out when you play in homerun parks. I'd drop Coles from the rotation and also consider some sort of shared starting role for Beaulac and Newfield, both of whom would be decent if you could work around their low durability. Of course that would take some of your better arms out of your bullpen, but it's usually relatively easy to find a decent RP through trade or on the wire.

Why is that a flaw? I was under the impression that GB/FB ratio was simply a number that was mostly inconsequential.

Some (many?) believe that giving up more flyballs in a HR+ park is bad.

Holding other factors constant, the more groundballs you give up, the less HRs will be hit off of you.

BUT, other factors are rarely constant, so I can't give you a definitivve answer regarding whether  Henderson will turn into a gopher the minute he takes the mound in a +2 HR stadium. My point was that maybe you should just keep an eye on him.

Okay. Thanks, just needed clarity.

more groundballs also equals more double plays, as Allen Craig and Ryan Madson know well.
