The draft? How does it work? Topic

Any thoughts on how the game decides which seniors get drafted?

Do any of the 3 seniors on my Bama squad have a shot?

That's a toughy. I don't have a lot of DI experience, but from what I've gathered, the draft slightly favors stats over ratings. Team success matters as well.

That being said, I think Hillard has the best shot to be drafted.

Where people are drafted I think the factors go awards, ratings, stats, in that order. A while back I had a guy win NPOY but he was barely 800 rated and went #1. A few seasons back I had a guy who was the 2nd highest rated player in all of Tark with a 982 overall or something like that but he wasn't even honorable mention all-american and went undrafted. I had a guy that I fully think should be drafted based off ratings but I'm pretty sure he won't be since he wasn't even all-conference 3rd team. He has 93ath/83sp/96D/81lp/92per/88bh/71pa, if that's not an NBA player then there are very few guys that are.

As far as your guys I think Smith has the best chance, the only rating that isn't very good-great for his position his athleticism. I once had a very similar guy to him but I think he had 74ath who actually left early. But because your guy didn't win awards I'm not sure it will matter.

I've given up trying to explain the draft, but I'm gonna whine if your seniors are drafted over any of my UCLA seniors.

kmason, what you have to ask is whether that guy went #1 because he won an award, or whether he went #1 because many of the same criteria used for the award are also used when it comes to getting drafted.

I'm fairly certain it's the latter.

I'm not saying an award or AA appearance doesn't help, it does. But I'm fairly positive it's the things that add up to that award (stats are huge and more important than ratings when it comes to which seniors get drafted) that are chiefly responsible for getting him drafted, not the award itself.

Team success also matters (too much). You'll often see 18-20 ppg scorers with strong ratings from teams that didn't make the NT go undrafted.

This D2 player went 14th in the Crum draft:

I don't think any of those get drafted because:

1. Weak showing in NCAA tournament
2. Failure to win national awards

That's just my 2 cents.   If anyone goes it'll be the guy who averaged 18 points per game.  I would suspect late 2nd round if he does get taken but I don't think it is likely.

for those curious, none of them were drafted.
