Right now the favorite team information in FSS is fairly meaningless.  I don't if anybody has ever felt like it had an impact on their recruiting -- if so, I don't think they wrote about it in the forums.

Currently, you have to scout a state to see if any players list you as their favorite team.  It would be kind of cool if you could see the players that list your school as their favorite regarless of whether you've scouted their state or not.  That could add an extra layer of intrigue to the recruiting process.

Or just have players that have you as their favorite school send YOU a letter.

Just to reduce the number of messages to open or look at in the inbox, I'd rather have it be one email that comes with the class limitation/FSS at your service/other email at 5 pm before recruiting starts with a list of every player (regardless of whether or not you've scouted that state) who has your school as their favorite.

Maybe players should start out automatically considering their favorite school, right before the recruiting period begins.  I also think it should have more weight and more correlation with distance away.  I've used it successfully once, when a player happened to be 10 miles from my school and had 4 stars.  I won a recruiting battle against some higher prestige schools (this was in D1, and I was in a mid major recruiting against Big 6 schools), and late in the process the recruit started telling me that I had always been his favorite school.  The other schools started to drop off.  So it has some effect but I'm not sure how much.  But it is strange when there is a fantastic player in Idaho has a favorite school like D+ Iona.  It just seems so totally random it is a bit dumb

nah, that happens - maybe the kid's favorite uncle who died when he was a young boy went to Iona or something, you never know - those things happen IRL all the time...

yeah, it does.   but real life is not like this game where favorite school has no correlation at all to a player's hometown.   Whether they change that or not, I think players should automatically consider their favorite school when recruiting begins.  Tying it to FSS is dumb.

I agree that tying it to FSS is dumb, I think you assistant coach should send you a list with everyone in the country who has your school as their favorite.  It is inconceivable to think that if a player was really a fan of the program they wouldn't send an email to the school/coach/athletic department/etc.

I don't think they should start considering their favorite school, I think that gives too much advantage to high prestige teams, both in terms of potentially expanding their reach and allowing them to sign players very cheaply.
