Yes. Bosco looks like he could be close to an ace someday. He's 21, so I'm sure he projects to reach close to 80 vs. R and about 82-83 overall. Herrera is a freaking stud, too.

Higley looks like he is a lights out pitcher, but I am worried I will be giving up Cook and Herrera for a three year use and then Higley would leave me for FA.

Do you think "makeup" affects weather  a player is more apt to leave for FA?

OK, The trade offer changed;

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dennis Yang
for
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Malcolm Higley

Do it?
Higley is obviously better than Bosco Cook, Cook will end up with final ratings somewhat close to Higley and is 9 years younger.

You will only have Higley for another 3 seasons, you will have Cook for 10+ years.

You are taking on 27 million in payroll for Higley.

Yang defensively isnt very good in RF and will most likely be a LF or 1B (or possibly 2B). I wouldnt even consider playing him in RF.

Herrera is an absolute stud, since hes a 3B I would actually value him higher than Yang.

I wouldnt do the trade

Ended up doing the Yang for Higley deal.  I really wanted a #1 SP but Yang's potential was huge.  Hope it pays off.

You ended up trading away a LF who was going to hit .300+/.370 with 35+ homers and 45 doubles for the next bajillion years.  He was completely under arb control, meaning he was WAY cheap.  Yang was a HoF type of guy.  You got an expensive ace.  I don't know what your FA pitcher market looked like, but you could have got somebody not quite as good as Higley for less money AND had Yang, which is what the other guy is going to do now.  You gave up 10 years of Yang for 3 years of Higley, and the total investment wouldn't have been that much more for Yang ($1M total for the next three years, $4M for the next two, $6M for the next year and then 4 years at $9M...or something like that.  10 years at $47M or 3 years at $25M)   I would have built around Yang, Bosco and Herrara, all three are young studs.

I think you blew it.  but then, I'm stuck on 83 wins for the last couple of years so take my advice with a grain of salt.

If you win a WS in the next three years it was worth it, maybe.  If not, bad call.

Wow...that was a lot of talent on the block.  I would love to have any one of those guys on my team.  I wouldn't have done the trade for the reasons moethedog stated, but you might have just made the difference between a perennial good team and a WS team.
