I am looking at 2 players. Player A is 310 miles from me and Player B is 360. Player A cost $286 and $436 respectively for a Scouting Trip and Home Visit. Player B while being less than an hour drive further cost $530 and $748 which is almost double. The difference between Campus visits is much more in line with the difference in distance with Player A being $1038 and Player B at $1263. Further examination shows Players C at 340 miles and Player D at 350 miles are $293 and $294 respectively for Scouting Trips. This means that the additional 10 miles I would travel to see Player B over Player D would cost me about double. Seems a little drastic. Any thoughts?
One thought I have is that this is nonsensical and should be fixed. The extra cost for scouting from 310 to 340 miles is $7. From 340 to 350, $1. From 350 to 360, $236. Maybe the assumption is that above 350 miles they fly instead of drive for scouting. But in real life nobody would say, well I will fly to that one that is 10 more miles away but drive to all the others.
