Sim recruiting for a human?????? Topic

I have a question regarding recruiting.
   Has anyone ever not been able to recruit for whatever reason and the sim did it for you?  If so can you tell me when did they start to recruit, could you even tell, what type of players did they go after...best available or what you needed, what was the quality of the recruits overall, and did they spend all the money available or did they end up getting 1 or 2 walk ons.    I may not be able to sign on or anything during the recruiting process for both my teams and was wondering if it is worth the experiment.  Thank you in advance...
I am under the impression that the sim would wait for at least a day or so.....when does the engine decide to start recruiting for you?

I'm pretty sure they wait until fairly close to the end of recruiting.  Last day or even the last few cycles if you haven't put forth any effort.  Seems like I remember reading that, but I've slept a time or two since then.

You have to have more than 3 openings for the asst. coach to sign anyone and they will leave you with 2 walk-ons.

I saw a team in a conf I was in that was ghost shipped... the players that were signed weren't very good.  They did seem to go after areas of need, but I would say you would be better off trying to find either a friend or a coach you trust to help you out with recruiting rather than relying on the sim.

When I first started the sim recruited someone for me out of pity I presume as I was trying to recruit for myself at the same time. They managed to sign someone around the end of recruiting.

From the FAQ link on the team page: 

Q: Can my assistant coach sign recruits for me?
A: Yes and no. If you have not made any recruiting efforts for the current recruiting period and have more than 3 scholarships open, the assistant coach will fill all but 2 of the open scholarships (maximum of 5 signings). This is by design to assist coaches who were out of town during recruiting and to address schools which have been abandoned.

As for the timing, I think the "assistant coach" works in similar fashion to the Sim AI second push of recruiting and takes place at the same period of time, late on the final day of signings.
