Is this an issue or is it just me? Topic

One thing i have noticed, since i been in HBD which isn't long, is base runners with low speed are getting on base on infield hits and they beat out the throw and today i had a loss 2-1 where a guy hit a in the park homerun with a 44 speed. Honestly do you think a 44 speed can get a in the parker? It would have to be a very bad defensive play to give up one and i just dont see it. I may be wrong but i would like opinions from you veterans. Thanks in advance.

"Inside the park" homers are random. Pretend he hit it over the wall.

This is a glitch that WifS is aware of (at least in ticket responses).  Currently, inside the park home runs are actually just a subset of regular HR's.  So, what happens is that the game engine decides if a player hits a HR first (based on Power and other factors) then determines what this HR will "look" like, ie HR over the left field fence, deep shot to left, inside the park...etc. Obviously this is backwards and inside the park HR's should be their own event on the same level as a single, double, triple and regular HR. I was told that they would be addressing this in a future update, I just haven't heard when.

thanks for looking into this. I guess it somewhat answers my question, but it still leaves me hanging a tad. I am still wondering about inside the park HR's. Are they a separate event from over the fence HR? I don't think someone with zero power should hit very much if anything over the fence, but I do think a fast enough one should get lucky every once in a while and hit an ITPHR. Basically, is an inside the park HR different from an over-the-fence HR the same way a double is different than a triple? Are they independent of each other? I get the feeling they are not.

Currently, they are not independent events. We understand your point and will address it in a future engine update.

Thank you.

Prince Fielder once hit one.  It does happen (though I guess he's actually moderately fast, given his size).

In the interest of full disclosure, Fielder hit one to the Miller Park outfield, and the ball came to rest in the space between the end of the padding and the ground, right up against the right field wall.  The outfielder mistakenly assumed this was out of play (I guess like the Ivy at Wrigley) and by the time he realized it was in fact in play, Prince was able to scamper home.

A 44 runner could hit one in the polo grounds to center or the original skankee stadium if the ball got in the monuments.
