Newbie salary question Topic

I recently picked up a team and during the initial free agent period I made a trade where I unloaded almost 5mil in salary.  This amount is not reflected in the amount I have to spend on free agents. Can anyone tell me why that is?

I'm assuming the player is Hull.   On your franchise payroll report, his 4.5m is gone.   Not sure what you're seeing to think it isn't.

It won't let me use that money in free agency.  Not a big deal to me, but I was just wondering.  When I go to offer a contract, it says that it exceeds my payroll for the current season.

Yeah, your budget is 110m and your payroll is 108m.   You only have 2m in cap space.    It's already been used.

Have you just accepted the trade, or has it been approved by the league?  Until it has been approved by the league, it won't reduce your current payroll.

Your current salary is 108.2m.   You may have been over before the trade.   No idea.  But Hull's salary is off your books.

I think its been approved...

My question I guess is what is the different between payroll used and total payroll?  My total payroll used is 108mil, and my salary after adjustment is 94mil...Why cant I use the 14mil difference in free agency?

Total payroll includes your entire team.   You have 12m in AAA.
