Arb eligible guy on 60 day DL Topic

I have a guy on DL that is arb eligible.  When we roll to the next season how will that work - does he still go through arbitration while on the 60 day DL?  His ratings have dropped so much that I may not want to sign him anyway - can I still release him if he is on the DL?

Yes, you can release him.

Normally you cannot release players on the DL.
Is this circumstance an exception?

He won't be on the DL after rollover.   He'll be injured.   You can release him.

Error: None of your roster moves could be added due to the following reasons:

Wil Hodges is injured or on the DL. An injured player or a player on a disabled list cannot be released until healthy and/or activated from the disabled list.

it's too bad cause he was a decent 3 or 4 starter for me.

philo, are you in pre-season?  Is he under contract?

You CAN release arb-el players, even if they're injured, during the pre-season.  Believe me, don't believe me.   ctduck can confirm when he tries.

My original question was  "Is this circumstance an exception?"

To which you replied  "He won't be on the DL after rollover.   He'll be injured.   You can release him. "

But DL or injured can not be released.

So now you are saying what?

As long as it's after rollover and before ST then this doesn't apply?
That is a different answer than "He won't be on the DL after rollover.   He'll be injured.   You can release him."

I don't "believe" or "not believe", I just don't know, hence my question.

I just released an arb guy that was injured.

Arb eligible.  That's the key.  He's not under contract.  You can release players who are not under contract.    Does that help?

Obviously.

The "key" is key.

Well, evidently I wasn't clear enough for you so......if you put him on the DL and then decide you'd rather release him than arb him, too bad.  Can't release him now.

Ah.
So even if arb hasn't ended yet, but you place him on the DL, at that point you may no longer release him?
Even though he still isn't under contract yet?

Players on the DL can't be released.

Ok sorry if I am dense on this point, but there is NO distinction during the season.

So why the distinction before arb?

The error clearly says "An injured player or a player on a disabled list cannot be released until healthy and/or activated from the disabled list."
