A little help for a newbie Topic

I am getting ready to start my 1st time with HD and have a couple of questions. 1. What should I do about my budget? My team payrole is 34.5M and have 8 players going to arbititation. 2. What about hireing coaches. I was thinking of just rehiring the coaches until I gain a better understanding of what things cost and how things work. I would love to hear any thoughts.

1.  Maximize everything at the expense of payroll for the first season.   That will help you learn which ones you want to get to 20, get you closer to getting there and prevent you from making too many payroll mistakes.
2.  Look at the coaches from last season at each level and see where your coaches fit in.  Rehiring a bad coach isn't a good move.

Any help on what a good and bad coach's rating are? At the ML my coaches have key rating in the mid to upper 70's  AAA about the same AA high 50 to low 60 and below they are in the 40 and 50's.

Get your MLB coaches as high you can in the applicable areas. At least Mid 70's.  HItting for hitting coach, etc.  High patience if you have good yong guys isn't a bad thing.  Loayalty is nice...but I don't focus on it...and my high loyalty guys seem to leave, anyway.

Compare them to what the rest of the world had last season.   Coaches vary from world to world.   If your guys are middle of the pack, rehire them.

When I go to the rest of the league their coaches are blank. Is there another way I can look at their coaches?

you have to put it on the previous year to see any thing

Look for this:   Season:     in upper left corner - use the present year minus one (year 22 use 21)

Do NOT neglect rehiring, or paying for, a decent to strong Fielding Coach

Re-signing your own FAs occurs at the same time as re-hiring coaches, so don't forget about that. Looking at your roster, one of your top priorities should be re-signing Sterling Riley. He is a raker, and still in his prime. However, he should begin his decline soon (maybe even starting this season) so I wouldn't sign him to a very long contract, unless he specifically asks for it. If you could get him signed for three years, I think that would be pretty good.

Your AAA team has way too many pitchers and not enough position players. But that might be a getting a little ahead. This game is a little overwhelming at first.

Do not worry too much about trading for players to fill out minor league levels, especially now that we have a tryout camp for position players. You should only make trades for ML prospects.

Be sure and sign your Minor League Free agents. It will be a pain to go out and compete for Free agents if you don't sign at least some of those Free agents.
