Guess how he finished! Topic

I have 1970 Harmon Killebrew in a single-season prog.  Real life stats: 41 HR, .271/.411/.546.

1/4 of the season in (41 games) these were Killebrew's numbers:

3 HR, 11 RBI, .192/.387/.272

I realize the Waiver Wire Choir, given the option, would have dumped Killebrew at this point, if not sooner (he went 1/20 in his first 6 games, so our friend crimsonblue would surely have dumped him before game 7 of the season -- proactive managing!).  Then the player who replaced Killebrew and hit a bit better than .192/.387/.272 would be used as evidence of the WW's effectiveness.

Anyway, the WW was not an option in this league.  So how do you suppose Killebrew finished the season?

Please, no cheating.  Just honest guesses.

I'm guessing he did OK or you wouldn't have posted.  His SIM performance history is .277/.391/.462, 28 HR/110 RBI.    I'm guessing he outperformed the SIM average the rest of the way.  He really had an OBP of .387 and a slugging percentage of .272 a fourth of the way through the season?  I guess he was getting a lot of walks even when he wasn't hitting, and the hits he was getting were mainly singles.  I guess he finished .258/.423/.458, 29 HR/101 RBI.

Yeah, you can't just multiple by 4 and get 12 HR, 44 RBI and the same .192/.387/.272 line.  He did better than that.

Will post his final stats later tonight...

I'd guess the HRs picked up given his power numbers, the home stadium, and the relative pitching. I'd guess he finished right around his RL numbers. I'll guess .263/.431/.528 with 39 HRs with 116 RBI.

My 2 cents.....He performed "realistic" for the other 3/4's of the campaign..

Totals: 35hr 115rbi .275avg .405obp .500slug

I had a 1988 Sandberg in a single season progressive who hit
.248 .319 .389
for the season.
RL stats
.294 .367 .442
For the first 3/4 of the year he was nearly Mendoza worthy, the last 1/4 he put up MVP type #'s. Singlehandedly wrecked my playoff chances out of the 3hole.
I kept thinking "sure he'll hit soon", by the time he did it was too late.
Now this is not common for me, but I was like WTF?

You guys were in the right ball park, but Killebrew did even better.  His overall numbers wound up right around where I expected them to be before the season started -- which is (as just4me said, given his power numbers and the home stadium and the relative pitching) something better than his real life stats:

43 HR, 127 RBI, .298/.438/.577
