WifS says it matters. I doubt it. Because that's encouraging me to put my slugging 1B in LoA at SS to maximize his fielding progression. Why would they build a game that encourages dumbassery like that?
my gut feeling is that it matters in the sense that SS will get more chances than a RF. And total number chances are all that matter in development much like AB's matter for hitting development. Although, I kind of doubt that the system is refined to the point that throwing the ball more (ie a SS compared to 1B) will increase the arm ratings more. I'm guessing guys that touch the ball more will develop all their fielding ratings at a certain rate. I could be wrong about that though.
