I have a question.... Topic

It's been a while since I played the Sim and I decided to peruse the 2011 players just now.  I noticed defense seems to REALLY be expensive as hell.  How long has this been the case?  Not to sound like an old-timer, but back in the day, defense was one of the better hidden advantages as it was pretty much not a factor in a guy's price.

Been a while.  Probably 2 or 3 years.  You don't get free teams anymore, shoo.

In October 2010, WIS increased the cost and the effect of rangey payers.

Sorry to nitpick, Zubinsum, but the last update was October 2009.  I notice only because it's been such a long time

That is not a nitpick. Thanks for the correction.

Muddy, other than rangy fielders being a bit overpriced, it's probably the best balanced game since I've been here.

Cubs players still don't show up in most draft searches. So that much at least hasn't changed.

You think range got expensive?  Just try to find a deal on a catcher with an A+ arm.

A+ arms are priced real quirky.   I think the best deals are actually the high PA catchers....

I am not saying they are worth it but they are cheaper ($/PA).

Yeah, it's easy to see that catcher's arm is set in the salaries at a flat rate and not done on a per PA basis, meaning that only full-time (>550 PA or so) catchers are worth getting a decent arm for.

Except for players who aren't CATCHERS as their primary position.   That's why Carter (1975?) and one of the Tenaces (74?) are under priced.

I was dicking around the other day and it looks like if you're in a lower cap league, the league-wide D is gonna suck.  Is spending a lot on D the way to go now?
I don't know all the particulars but your defense can be either accentuated or deteriorated depending upon your pitcher's year.
