Lose in title game.....5 EE decimate team Topic

Aarg.  Maryland.  Rupp.  I thought I had built something, now back to the start.

I fully support the fact that HD has EE's, but I do think there should be a cap each season.  I'm thinking 3 would be a nice number.

Why cap it? If five players think they can get drafted then they declare. Sucks but it happens.

The argument against 5 players leaving early is that it hurts game play - although it can happen in real life, should it be part of the game or does it screw people up too much.  I think they made a big step forward in the last release by limiting EE when you have a bunch of seniors leaving.  In the maryland rupp case, with no seniors, the team was ravaged anyway.  hard to say what is best for the game,.

Team would've had seniors, dude - all of the rising seniors left.

Agreed.  I think there could be a blending of reality vs. fantasy when it comes to EE's.  That's why, to me anyway, 3 max makes sense.

This was an interesting application of the new rule on EE - the december release:

"Players deciding on early entry to the draft will now decide to stay if their team has already lost 5 or more players to graduation and early entry. Does not count walk-ons leaving."

Maryland had no seniors on the roster, so this rule did not protect us and we lost 5 guys to EE.

The Florida team - a better team and better coach - that beat us in the title game had three seniors, so could lose only 2 guys to EE.

I'm not sure that i disagree with the rule, but it sure does stunt one's efforts to have 5 juniors walk.

I thought you got jobbed mamxet.  I was surprised Florida only lost 2, though they have been hit badly in the past.  I guess on the whole though, I would rather lose 5 in losing the championship game, than lose 2 with a S16 birth like a few of us in the SEC.  I agree though, 5 seemed high.

Didn't they just add the cap at 5 in the last big update?

And I find it completely fair.  You had a 34-1 season, and we all remember how many players leave from real teams that have big seasons (didn't North Carolina lose 8 to the NBA one year?).  It sucks to try and rebuild, but that should be the risk with having top flight players.

At least you made the championship game! I once lost 4 EE's after going out in the Sweet 16.

jp, FL only lost two because they had three seniors.

This EE change is not a good one. It's going to bring up even weird results than before, purely driven by how many seniors you have.

completelty fair to have the champ lose 2 EE and the runner up lose 5 EE ?  where the champ had a roster with something like 70 points higher average player?

now the champ will lose a total of 5 players, but 3 were graduating seniors......there is no perfect answer, but hard to lose and have more guys go than from the winner

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
The only problem I see from Maryland's end is that the dumb rule kept Keenan on the team, he should've left too.

I agree with that, but it's the complaining about EE's that led to the cap of 5, otherwise, the champ would've lost more too.

So within the cap that was complained about to reach, this is what you get.  Remove the cap, and you both may have lost over half your rosters.
