Q: Is there a limit to how many recruits I can sign in one recruiting class?
A: There is no limit to recruits in one class, BUT there is a limit of 6 players in each eligibility class. In other words, you can't have more than 6 freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. A redshirted player counts as his eligibility class, so a redshirt freshman (who is truly a sophomore) still counts as a freshmen in the 6 player limit. If you have more than 6 scholarships open, you can target JUCOs or transfers as those players won't be considered freshmen. You could also opt to not fill all of your scholarships and take walkons.

I took a team with ten open spots - based on above, I recruited seven Freshmen (one of which I told would be red-shirted) and filled the remaining roster with JUCO, transfer or walk on.  Six Freshmen acccepted (including the one I have told will be redshirted) so my remaining Freshmen recruit just had his scholarship offer removed because I have signed six freshmen.  This doesn't seem right to me as this year I will only be playing five freshmen.  I guess I figured that the redshirted freshmen would not count against my 6 playing freshmen based upon this sentence above "A redshirted player counts as his eligibility class, so a redshirt freshman (who is truly a sophomore) still counts as a freshmen in the 6 player limit." My redshirt who is truly a freshman would be counted as a high school player - makes sense to me but maybe I misunderstood.  has this been discussed anywhere else?

You cannot recruit the extra, then redshirt.  At the start of the season, you can only have 6 in the class.

he is a freshman until he actually IS redshirted.  During recruiting all you did was tell him that you expected to RS him, so during recruiting he is a freshman

if this wasnt the rule, people could sign 10 freshmen, tell them all they intend to RS and then just not do it

has not been much discussion of this rule lately

Yea the only way it could work is if you can only tell one guy you intend to redshirt and then after recruiting it automatically redshirts him and prevents you from taking it off.

Question - my fairfield team currently has 5 sophomore's and 1 redshirt Fr. Currently, I can only sign 5 true freshman during recruiting which is about to start. What happens If one of my sophomore's accepts a redshirt before recruiting starts? I could only sign 4 freshman during recruiting then?
