I read the knowledge base discussion, which sort of says how they work.

Anyone got tips on the smart ways to use these somewhat confusing things?

Are the SIM suggestions usually about right?

I treat the Player Rest hierarchy as a "true depth chart" in a sense -- who do I want to come in if my starter is tired? (Though I will typically leave the starter first)

Defensive Replacement, I typically do it by, "defensively, who do I want to see in the field first, second, etc."

I typically leave the PH hierarchies alone unless I have specific unusual ideas about who I want PHing (or not).
