I was wondering if I could get some input for my next team. I play against the same group of guys a lot and always come up just short of the playoffs, this past season I won 96 games and finished 8 games back.

Our next season is going to be a franchise league. The last time we had one, we kept the season parameters somewhat modern, but this time around, all seasons are available. We've never gotten to use anything prior to 1920, so I'm excited this time around.

For a $100 million cap with Average AAA and no DH/clones, what might be the best franchise to draft from?

I'm not necessarily asking for specific players/seasons (although any cookies won't be turned down), but given the cap, I want the best possible pool of players. I've always wanted to draft Joss, but there are so many players/seasons I've wanted to draft, I don't know where to turn.

Times like these are when I wish I could enter 2 different teams.

Anyway, I was looking at the Indians franchise (where I could grab a Joe Jackson and Addie Joss), but also like the idea of a Red Sox team with Pedro, Cy Young, Babe Ruth and a team of doubles hitting fiends.

Any thoughts? Help is always greatly appreciated.

You usually can't go wrong with either the Red Sox or Yankees.  I've seen quite a few owners have success with the Cubs as well.

the best deadball pitching franchises are the Cubs, the White Sox, and the A's.

the Red Sox also have some good deadballers, and at 100mil the Yankees can put together a competent staff. the Indians would be fine but I'm not sure I love any pitchers other than Joss.

Senators/Twins gives you access to Walter Johnson who should perform quite well at 100 million to couple with Johan Santana and friends.  Plus, they have many other HOF hitters you could pluck career single seasons from (Delahanty, Cronin, Pucket, Carew, Mauer, Myer, Killebrew, Goslin would make a killer lineup).
