My answer is probaly completely worthless, because I've never seen a guy like that in the majors, but there is no question I would use him as my starting ss, if me made close to those defensive projections, to find out

I'll see if I can find a comp, but my first guess would be about 240/340/450. Conservatively 750+ OPS with GG defense and above avg SB threat - sounds like a regular All Star to me.

Just for kicks, what's your scouting and his current age?

i  would use him as well , but is he worth dropping 20+ mil on as an IFA,  i am leaning towards yes, but mainly because the IFA pool has been weak so far

Best I could find Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Lawrence Cornelius - should validate my expectations re avg.

I'd pay $20M for that guy in a heartbeat.

What are his current ratings, including makeup?

He could be worth it if he (a) comes close to projections, and (b) have the $20m to spare to sign him.  But if he falls short defensively (glove is going to be borderline), then he may be a $20m bust.

If those projects are correct my system projects him at 7.3 runs created per 27 which would make him the 6th best hitter of any kind in my favorite world.

Glove may be borderline per specs, but it won't hurt his chances at GG or being unusually valuable at defense. Having trouble with the link but Nicholas Harnisch (TUC) in Moonlight Graham - has had similar fielding ratings with an 83 glove, and has 2 GG, averages 20 err and 24 plus plays per season. Like your guy, his low 90's accuracy compensates for the avg glove.

Obviously this assumes he comes close to your projections, otherwise it's a different thread.

I love this player, or more correctly this projected player.  It's almost as if someone at WiS was trying to prove you could have a stud player with crappy splits.  I would guess about the same offense as dwoolery-- but then throw in 30 SB in 35 attempts.  The defense is well above average, not probably the GG winner most years but could steal one.

All that said, assuming a 19yo Intl will make his projections is often a trap.  I agree with tec that the current ratings, including makeup, are critical in determining whether he's a dream-- or a dud.

Still a solid player, likely to become a legitimately above average ML SS and maybe a .240/.320/.440 bat.  Good-fielding SSs who don't blow at the plate don't grow on trees... depending on where you sit in the draft and how many other guys have big prospect budgets I could easily see laying out $20M+.

i normally would pass, but we are a few days from the draft and he is the 1st big free agent to appear and there about 10 teams with 20 mil to spend and a couple that can go higher

Generally speaking what does the amateur draft class look like? This is anecdotal, but I have seen several seasons where a strong draft class was offset by a weak IFA class and vice versa. If the draft class looks strong to you, I'd be more inclined to "overpay" in IFA, if it looks weak, then you might have a shot at better IFA's down the pipe.

i am picking last anyways so it probably doesn't matter, i have zero scouting in the draft and instead put all that money from scouting the draft into an IFA since i have been picking at the end of the 1st round for awhile now, it has worked well, i have gotten a ML caliber player even without any scouting at all, plus solid IFA
