I heard a while back that redshirts were more likely to be taken depending on players listed at the same position (example: a freshman PF was more likely to take a redshirt with 3 senior PFs on the roster).  Is that still true?

If so, I would like to see that logic change to adjust to the fact that positions are no longer 'relevant', or allow us to assign positions.  It seems to be a pretty arbitrary way to determine who will take a redshirt since positions are no longer limiting to where a player plays (or how he is developed)

If you're allowed to assign positions, they'd have to bring back the position relevancy.  Otherwise, what's to stop me from assigning my incoming PF, who would be my only PF, to a SG, which I might have 3 of, just so that I could get him to take the RS?

I dont think this effect relates to your depth chart settings - it may relate to who is on the roster at that position.

I dont think it is the main factor - bigger factors are the kid's attitude (team player etc ) and how highly rated he is compared to your team
