Explain my budget to me... Topic

In my Prospects Budget in the Budget Finance key I have set 20M for prospects.. but that does not show up on the short tab.  In the quick view short tab it states I have 2.5M for prospects and I cannot sign anyone (International prospects).  Can you tell me where I am failing to make logical sense out of this?

What do you mean by "short tab" and "quick view short tab"?  Which pages are you referring to?

You have used up your entire payroll. In order to sign an IFA or a draft pick you need 8k in payroll available for each player.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the franchise popup window which states all of the budget numbers in the top right for Players, Prospects, and Coaches in terms of how much is spent.

I think you are correct oe.

onfyre47, the "short tab" or pop-up window you are referring to only shows how much you have spent.  If you go to world office>budget analysis you can see that you have $20 million in prospects and $80 million for player payroll.  If you then go to world office>franchise payroll analysis, and set it to your team and "all" you can see that you have gone over your budget and are spending $80,043,782.  You basically froze yourself from making any moves as the game won't allow anything to happen if you are over budget - I bet you can't even promote players in the minors.  All you need to do is transfer in some cash into your player payroll.  This will free up your roster moves and allow you to sign internationals.  I would suggest just moving $2 million from your prospect budget, which would give you $81 million in payroll.  This should be more than enough to sign prospects throughout the season and you'll still have $15.5 prospect to play with.

Well since I am still new to this budget process and how to move things around correctly I ran into a snag... Thank you for your analysis.

no problem, it can get tricky and somewhat confusing.  If you have any other questions let me know.  I thought they fixed it so that it was impossible to go over budget...so I'm wondering how you did it...

You could also waive some bad player salaries ( cough Belliard, McGee, Kell and Pineda ) to free up some cash.  Even if you have your budget straightened out...Belliard McGee and Kell belong in LoA.  No good can come from having them in the majors.  Just unneccessary losses.

That's no guarantee that they'll be claimed.

Most likely, if the player is not worth the contract, he won't be claimed.

No harm trying though
