I just picked up a team in Allen (this is an alt. ID) and I was just wondering what people thought of my team. I actually don't have it yet, but if anyone is interested in taking a look, it's Springfield. I'm using this ID to try to move up to D1 as quick as I can, but where does my current team stand?

Anyone?

I've never gotten outside opinions on my teams before, so I figured it would help.

Suggestion for lazy people- add a link here, most people don't want to take the time to go into an Allen ID/world to search for the team.

I must not have been clear, I don't have the team yet. I reserved it, and cannot figure out how to see it again. I reserved, tried to find it, then asked the question.

If you know how I can find it, I'd love to post the link.

was that so hard

There's nothing to say about that team, though - you've got four returning players.  Whether or not your team's any good will depend on how you recruit, and either way, the answer to "how will be team be this year" is "very, very young."

I agree with the above post. Looks like you're located in the middle of NAC territory, which will make your first recruiting period tough regardless of the 8 open schollies. My advice is to spend your money wisely, avoid battles with NAC/NESCAC powerhouses, and try sign players with high potential in core areas that you can start right away and hope to have a solid team 2 seasons from now.

If it were me I'd put cutting Hardin on my to-do list as well.
He's not extremely athletic.
A walk-on will get you another scholly next season and $3,000. I can't imagine him ever helping your team unless he knows alot of good looking, fairly loose women

Now would be the time to change offense or defense if you wanted to.
Running press with 8 new faces will make matters even worse for the next 2 seasons.

sorry, just saw the part about moving to D1 ASAP... disregard everything we told you.... except the beware of NAC stuff. That goes even after you get to D2.

Yeah, if you want to get to DI ASAP, sign the best talent available, including junior college players, try to get your record this year above .500, and then jump to DII right away.

Thanks guys. And thanks cornfused for the link. So one season and then on to D2, and should I be looking for B Prestige and up?
1/9/2012 6:19 PM
I think that sounds about right. B or higher.

B prestige and up, but also a team with decent talent on the roster already. You don't want to take over a complete rebuild at D2
1/9/2012 11:03 PM
I would say that the team your taking over is more important then the prestige. Mainly because you want a team that is built to win over the next few years. So if you see a C+ team with talented SO's and JR's, and a few high rated FR, take that team over a B+ team that has 7 JR's and 5 scholarships open.

lol, really trying to instill fear into everyone's mind huh?

I mean, forget (x prestige and up).  You want:

*a conference that you'd be fine playing in for 5+ years
*a class structure that's nice - if you don't want to deal with large classes, don't take that hypothetical 7-JR-and-5-open school.
*a good recruiting location - somewhere that's going to have a lot of recruits is going to be a state with lots of DI and DII schools - but that means increased competition, too.  Balance these to your liking.

And with those taken care of, apply to the best jobs you're qualified for.
