When I press... Topic

WHen I press all my players foul out or get in foul trouble, anything I can do to prevent this?  I have just recently put the pressing system in, does that play factor?

The low IQs are a factor, but the key to your particular situation is it's very difficult to press with only 10 scholarship players.  The more tired they are, the more players will foul.  If you want to keep pressing, I would play slow down every game.  The slower tempo will slow their fatigue a little.

I would also pump minutes into conditioning  for every player who still has decent potential for stamina.  With only 10 guys pressing, stamina is the most important attribute to develop right now.

With my pressing teams I always try to have a full roster of scholarship guys, and I want everyone to have the potential to get at least into the high 70's in stamina -- and preferably higher.

When your IQs are higher and your players are not playing tired so often, your fouls will decrease greatly -- but you'll still foul more than M2M and zone.

IQ's too low, Ath/Spd too low, and you can Press with 10 (not best, but can be done) but you should set Offense to Slowdown (fatigue is major issue with FCP)

I've noticed that there are six things, give or take, that will affect the press ability of your team. All of which make common sense.

In no particular order (because I haven't figured that out):
1-Good athleticism and 2-speed in as many players as possible (not common, but not exactly rare, either)
3-Good defense (goes along with athleticism pretty well)
4-12 playable guys with pretty good stamina or 5-10 guys with excellent stamina.
6-Higher IQ's overall in the press.

Of course you'll usually have to make some sacrifices in players here and there when you're balancing out offensive attributes.
