My scout says potential superstar SS while I see a decent hitting 3B or corner outfielder.  Initial demand is $3.55M.  What are your thoughts?  Pass or bid heavily?

How old is he?   What is your Int'l budget?  Does he want to sign? Those who probably won't sign tend to ask for more.

Based on what you have provided, he's a 5th outfielder/AAAA guy.

It's a virtual guarantee that this guy is going to be junk... If however it was the end of the season and u have prospect cash burning a hole in your pocket and nobody better is on the Ifa list I would do the deal then. I'd take him as at most a 2nd injury replacement for the lesser skill positions. That is if my primary injury replacement guy goes down to injury this guy would take his place.

He's a turd.  As greeny said, I'd only shell out cash for him if it's the end of the season, and you know that no more IFAs are going to be showing up.

Most legitimate IFA's don't sign for anything near what their demands are. A potential ace or potential all star hitter will demands 6-8 million and sign for 20+

Hell, I never, ever read the scout's message. I click on the player and look at his PROJ and his demands. That's it.

lol no way is that guy a SS. Looks like a RF to me. Seeing that you are not even halfway through the season, definitely don't waste your $ on this guy. Only way I would sign him is if, like others said, he is still out there really late in the season and you have prospect money to burn. But that won't happen because some other owner will stupidly sign him within the next couple days. I think my ceiling for this guy would be no higher than $1.5 mil. And I might not even invest that much.
