Evaluating Potential Topic

SO I was wondering what the potential's actually mean in terms of possible improvement.

I think I have a pretty good Idea, I always though High is 20 points, Average is 10, and Low is 5 or less.

Is this about right?

low is 0-7
avg 7-20
high 20+ (I've had as much as 50+)

The scouting messages will give you a clue as to how high they may go (i.e. "sky's the limit" or "HUGE improvement")

good info. just a nit pick, i think low is 0-6 though.

the scouting info is definitely valuable. low low is like 0-1, high low 2-5. that is a lot less important than high though. low/high potential is only 20-28. where as high/high is 28-??

Actually, by word of god(Seeble) Low is 0 - 6.99.

Definetly Answered my Question guys. Thank you.

Another small question. How often do you pursue finding the nature of a recruit's high potentials. I'm guessing you can find those out with phone calls? So those are cheap, so it's totally worth it to take ten phone call to find out if a potential is high-high or low-high, right?

can only find out high/high etc with scouting trips.  phone calls won't do it.

well that's kind of bogus. Doesn't really seem worth it then.

views differ about when it is worth doing the scouting trips to get that added info - keep in mind, budgets increase in higher divisions

well that's kind of bogus. Doesn't really seem worth it then.
when you consider how many player appear roughly the same, and how different some of them actually are (for example, two guards with roughly the same ratings, and high potential in spd, per, bh, pass, and  sta, one can easily be 5/5 low high, while the other is 4/5 high high, and ends with 10 more spd, bh, pass, and 20 more per - making him vastly better) - there is really a lot to be gained from the information.

so you don't need to use evals on every player you recruit... some years, the best big man available to you might be enough better without knowing his sub-potentials that its not worth the money to find them out. other years, you might have a massive battle on the horizon for a super star player, and might not have the money. but all in all, most seasons, there is very much a place for using evals to find this information. i think it is really a big disadvantage not to use them. again, not saying to use them always, or to spend 10k per season on evals to get more info. but they should be a weapon in your arsenal.
