Naismith's top Division II conference (according to RPI) has two openings currently for anyone looking to move up from the D3 ranks, sideways from in the D2 ranks or parachuting down from D1. Benefits package includes the extra recruiting cash that comes from having 7 teams in last season's national tournament and 2 more in the PIT, a great centralized location in the US that provides lots of flexibility for recruiting and an active coaches chat filled with friendly banter. There's also budding talk of a non-conference series with the Lone Star beginning this next year.
Your options:
-- Mercyhurst was a long-successful GLV program that has fallen on hard times after going Sim for the past 3 seasons. You'll have the ability to bring in four recruits this season (not counting any cuts you make) but the prestige has tailed away to a C-. Can you be the coach to restore hardwood glory to campus?
-- Kentucky Wesleyan is open for those wanting a true challenge. First, the good news -- KW has a B- prestige, which is its best prestige in a quarter century and will certainly aid in recruiting. Now the bad news -- KW has 9 scholarship openings this season, so whoever tags in at this position will probably take a few lumps for a season or two. For someone wanting to linger several seasons at D2, this would be a chance to immediately craft the program to your standards of offense and defense.
Conference play is fun, but brutal, so bring your A game every time you step on the floor. Our most-recent champion earned a No. 1 seed in the national tournament, but had to play two overtime games in the conference tournament. Being the No. 2 team in the nation was only good enough to be the No. 3 team in our conference at the end of the regular season.
So come join us if you're in Naismith. Operators are standing by...
