Did I Miss Something? Topic

I went to attempt to apply for a job in Naismith today.  Granted, I have not played Naismith in over 10 seasons but the last job I had was a Pac 10 school for 1 year.

ALL of the D1 Jobs are Not Qualified
ALL of the D2 Jobs are Not Qualified
ALL of the D3 Jobs are Over Qualified

Do I really have to start from D3 again?  If so, that is ridiculous.

Am I missing something?

jobs process was "updated" send in a ticket and let them look at the situation...

Thanks dacj!

I am getting hosed here.  I have to go all the way back down to DIII because my loyalty is at a D.  I spent 4 seasons at my first DIII school, spent 4 seasons at my next DII school, spent 5 seasons at a low D1 school, then spent 1 year at U of Washington.  All consecutively I might add.  That adds up to a D loyalty and forcing me to go back to DIII to get my "loyalty" up?

Obviously something is horribly wrong with the jobs changes they made.

That happened to me too, but if you think about it, only spending one year at a school, then resigning,  would probably make a lot of schools hesitant to hire you. Although it would seem that a very low level D1 or D2 would be willing to take a chance.

Chapel,

Exactly.  ZERO Division 1 and Division 2 schools will take me.  In real life, I would be hesitant too but in WIS, my resume should at least get me a low D1 job and AT MINIMUM a low D2 school.

Also, I checked the Reserve a Team page a few days before Naismith opened and it said I was qualified for around 50 D1 jobs and 150 DII jobs.  Ummm, Naismith opens and both are zero.  I sense a HUGE bug here.

I thought you couldn't apply for a job during the hiring phase unless you already had a team in the world.    If you were qualified for D1 jobs prior to Naismith opening, you should still be able to pick from the leftovers once the hiring period ends and before recruiting begins.  I could be wrong of course

Here's your issue-- had you signed up for one then ("Reserve a Team"), you'd have it. Now it's like you are in open competition with current players, and your D loyalty is killing you.

I think there might be a chance to sign up on/after the last day? or would that be for the next season? can't remember, it's been so long since I changed jobs.

Wronoj,

I would agree with you with the exception that I am not even able to apply for these jobs.  If I were able and went head to head with someone with better loyalty, I would understand losing.  To offer positions during Reserve a Team and then take them all away once hiring opens...seems a tad silly.

To be really honest, that is not even the main point.  They overdid the job system.  There is no way in blue hell that I should have a D loyalty with my resume.  Not perfect?  Yeah, I would think because I was 1 and done at Washingtonm but outside of that, the new system is saying this:

"You left your last school after 1 year so in turn that kills your previous 14 seasons of great loyalty.  You are now forced to start again at D3."

That's the issue.

Nah, I'm with girt on this.  Sending a ticket helps get things ACTUALLY DONE.

100% agree. however, when you abuse the tickets (more than 1 1/2 per month on girt's suggestions alone), they lose their significance.

and i think this thread is a perfect example of a ticket being unnecessary. you might recall that before the change, a number of coaches took issue with the fact that a coach could leave HD for an extended period of time, and then get preferential treatment for jobs. the update / change fixed that. there have been substantive changes to HD from 10 seasons ago and its not unrealistic to require a coach to regain his bearings. bc of his resume, he should be able to make the jump to d1 much quicker than coaches starting from scratch, assuming that he is successful.

I disagree. He last coached at a BCS school, and now can't even get a D2 job. He's being forced back to D3 as if he were a brand-new rookie coach. He's not asking for preferential treatment. Just reasonableness. This is extreme overkill and definitely ticket-worthy.

There is something to be said, though, for the fact that if he just waits for the offseason, he'd probably be accepted at a Montana State or something like that.
