I don't think I've ever fully understood how team prestige is calculated but I am really confused now. Take the following two teams as an example:
Team 1
Most Recent Season: 24-5, 14-2 in conference, #9 ranking, 12 RPI, Conf Champ, NT At Large Bid, NT 2nd Round
Season 2: 20-13, 8-8, NR, 56 RPI, PI Championship Game
Season 3: 15-14, 7-9, NR, 97 PRI, PI 1st Round
Season 4: 13-14, 6-10, NR, 125 RPI, No Postseason
Team 2
Most Recent Season: 20-15, 7-9, NR, 38 RPI, PI Champion
Season 2: 19-12, 12-4, NR, 37 RPI, NT At Large Bid, NT 2nd Round
Season 3: 29-4, 14-2, #6 ranking, 4 RPI, CT Champion, NT Elite 8
Season 4: 23-9, 13-3, #17 ranking, 21 RPI, NT At Large Bid, NT Elite 8
Both teams have a B+ prestige. The only way this makes even the slightest bit of sense is if the most recent season is very heavily weighted whereas the others are not--but even then, this seems odd to me. Feel free to tell me I'm delusional though (I've been accused of worse).
I included the past 4 seasons b/c I think I recall reading somewhere that these are the seasons factored into a team's prestige? Maybe I'm mistaken? Anyway, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
