1 opening in Great NE - Rupp D3s #1 Conference Topic

Hey everyone,

We currently have 1 opening in the Great NE in Rupp D-III. The Great NE is the most competitive conference in Rupp D-III. Teams from our conference have won 3 out of the last 5 national championships, and last season we placed 4 teams in the NT. 3 of those teams went on to make the Elite 8. Each team typically receives an additional 4-5k in recruiting every season based on our postseason success, and this season each team will receive 3750 additional recruiting dollars.

My goal is for the Great NE to have 100% active coach participation while becoming Rupp's most challenging D-III conference. We are looking for a coach up to the challenge of taking over a team that needs to be rebuilt from the ground up in a highly competitive conference.

The open team is: Suffolk

Suffolk will have 5 open scholarship and 2 SRs next season. The additional $3750 in recruiting money will give a new coach flexilibility to cut a few additional players, thus allowing them to effectively plan their rebuild.

Please feel free to post here or site mail me if you have any questions or need more information!

Thanks!

It's a great conference with great coaches -- I took over a team last season and enjoyed (as much as one can enjoy going 9-18) my first year with this bunch. Great environment for the serious coach to walk into. Give it a shot!

bananajacobs,

Are you guys okay with a brand new player who's really interested in this and plans to spend time learning? I don't want to be "that guy" and frustrate any other coaches in the conference, since it seems like you guys work hard to make it very strong.

jeff, i'm fairly new to the game and took on Norwich as a project 2 seasons back. I've taken my lumps, but I've learned a lot so far. It's nice to have the extra cash to use recruiting, and the region that we recruit in is pretty stacked with talent. Learning to recruit is the most important skill in this game, and there is a less painful learning process since you get all the extra money.

if i were you i would consider the job if you are OK with a few down years. Once those first couple of seasons are done and you've gotten the talent you need to be successful, you can make a top-tier program out of it.

We would love to have you, Jeff.

As a new coach, I would recommend you look into getting a mentor. Having someone to bounce ideas off as you learn will really speed up the learning process. I'd be more than willing to help, but you may prefer getting advice from someone outside of the conference :)

Let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can do to help.

Missed getting in! Thanks for the words of advice, but it looks like I won't be able to fill that last slot after all!

In that case, bananajacobs, I may take you up on being a mentor if you're still up for it? :)

I see that the Great NE is full at this point.  If anyone is still looking for a D3 team in Rupp, check out the University Athletic Association.  We have 7 human coaches and 5 sims.  We are usually top 3 conference RPI... few more humans always makes the game more interesting.
