A little help on some things Topic

I just picked up my first team in world Second City and I would like to know what rating to look at to determine what a batters On Base % and Slugging % would make of?

Would On Base be Contact and Batting Eye?
Would Slugging be Power and and Contact?

Also what about pitchers? What do I need to look for in a #1 pitcher, a 2-3 pitcher, 3-5 pitchers, and set-up pitchers?

If you dont want to post here a sitemail would be appreciated if someone can give me some of their tips.

Also if you have time to take a look at my team and tell me anything about them I may need to know that would be great a well.

Thanks in advance for the help.

OBP is largely going to be driven by contact and eye.   SLG will largly be driven by power.   Splits are important in all aspects of hitting.

The easiest way to get a "feel" for the game would be to look at last season's leaders in parks similar to what you're using.   Check their ratings.  That will give you a rough idea of what you need and what to expect.

Also remember that each world plays differently so when you see opinions in forums on whether somebody's splits (or any other ratings) are good enough or not, it depends a ton on context.  Mike's answer also addresses context.

To add a little bit, it seems like ratings behave non-linearly.  To me it seems ratings have a progressively larger effect on performance between 60 and 80 and rise slightly less quickly after that.  Below 60 they seem to have less of an effect (at least at the ML level).  The computers figure that out.  To me it's a "feel" thing.
