The draft prospects were recently revealed in a world in which I have the 3rd pick. The pick is actually a Type D from last season in which my budget of 16 Col, 0 HS yielded no one I saw worthy of the choice so I ranked #1 the best guy I saw who had his mother as his agent. So now this season, I budgeted 20M Col, 0 HS and I see a couple guys who look like top 10 talent, but still not what I was hoping to see from the college prospects.
With only 6 high schoolers visible among my 500 prospects, the guy who seems as if he might be the most worthy is a HS prospect listed as a 2B. He is clearly not a 2B as his current glove rating is too low but looks to be a COF or GG caliber 1B. The hitting projections I see make him look like a superstar with 90+ splits, 80+ power and eye, and over 70 contact. Obviously with 0 scouting, these projections could be far off the mark, however at only 18 he is in the mid 50s or better in each category and has a very high makeup rating.
Anyone have any experience drafting someone in a similar scenario?
As a secondary option, I've seen comments that people are getting comp picks for comp picks. Is this truly the case? It would be a bit more of a risk this season as last season's mother agent player was still a 1st round talent while there is nothing similar this time.
