Will moving this guy up to MLB hurt development? Topic

I may move up JoakimLucano .  He's currently at AAA, 21 Yrs. old, Make-up of 78.

Offensive #'s are currently 70-26-74-68-77, projects to 73-31-80-73-77.

So he's almost at projections.....and probably will hit them in Contact, and get within 1 or 2 pts in vL and vR with his normal growth in the off-season.

He's currently playing as much as possible (keeping him at 100%) in AAA and hitting his normal .330.  If I move him up he'll principally be a vL guy and get a bunch of defensive replacement innings.

I'm wondering if the fewer AB's if he's moved this year will cost him in development. It would probably cost him 150-200 PA's or so.  Since he's so close to projections and and still only 21 I would think he'll basically hit them in the off season, even if I move him up.  Well, he'll be 4 pts short in Power, which isn't his strongest suit, anyway.  Next year he has a good shot at being a 300+ AB MLB guy...but would probably stay in a platoon, maybe.

So, am I costing him points if I move him up?

Learned skills, like VR/VL, are in-season development ratings.    He hasn't advanced either this season.

I doubt he gains more than the occasional point here or there. IMO he is basically done developing. So far this season he has only gained one point to to any rating.

The ratings gained during the off-season are PWR ,Range and AS.
Dur and Stamina and some of the orange ratings maybe.
The rest will not change during the off season.

So if he's played basically 3/8 of a season and hasn't gained anything other than the one point to Eye after ST was over. He's ready now, and the most it'd cost you is a point or two in any one category., if anything at all.

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but what are learned vs "other"?

Hitting I'm guessing contact, vL and v R are learned whereas power is "other"

what about others including in fielding and pitching?

Defensive ratings:

Learned: glove, arm accuracy - improve/decline in-season
Physical : range, arm strength - improve/decline off-season

Hitting ratings:

Learned: contact, vsL, vsR, batting eye, base running - improve/decline in-season
Physical: power, speed - improve/decline off-season

Pitching ratings:

Learned: control, vsL, vsR, P1-P5 - improve/decline in-season
Physical: durability, stamina, velocity, GB/FB - improve/decline off-season
