Greatest scoring season ever? Topic

Came across this guy who averaged nearly 36 points and shot over 47% from the field while shooting over 500 3s in 30 games. Has anybody seen someone score at that rate at any level with near the efficiency?

I didn't realize modified bingball was still so successful in this engine.

If you have a really dominant player you can still load up the distro on them. I have a guy averaging 22.5 on .558 shooting and only 1.9 TOs per game. I could probably give him even more distro and he would still be efficient.

I was looking at this thread (though I don't play HD anymore) and thought "This guy reminds me a lot of a guy we played against in HS." So I decide to look back at some stats from games against him. First game I look at- the first we played against that team that season (my senior year) the kid scored 42 on 13 of 33 shooting. Eerily similar.

It's not an isolated great player event blackdog.  This guy is the school's all-time scoring leader, but if you look he has a lot of very high scorers the past 6 or 8 seasons.  It looks like a lighter version of the bingball stats where the team's strategy consistently relies on 1 or 2 scorers.

This strategy can get you wins, but not championships.  (note that 1st round NT game was a loss).

Just looking at his current team I would assume all those guys who scored a lot were great D2 players like this guy is. If you have a guy who is that far above the normal talent level they can easily dominate.

Disagree completely. It's not like the guy is inefficient, he has a true shooting % of 64.2%, which is absurdly good. The loss was a huge upset, and if you notice there are 2 other guys that average 13.9+, again with both being efficient. Upsets happen, regardless of strategy and this was one of them. Would a better strategy be to give guys who aren't as efficient as Buchanon more shots just for the sake of balance?

The problem I see with this strategy is if the 2nd option is in foul trouble or the sim simply distributed shots favoring #1, #1 option gets too much distro and becomes inefficient. That's pretty much what happened to this team, with a 30ppg scorer:

About to put this to the test with my NYT team. Top player scores 22.4, 2nd is 12.7, 3rd is 9.1 and then nobody else averages over 7.

ironically, having the starting sg (who was terribly outmatched @ ath & spd and has an abysmal m2m 43 def rating) in foul trouble, allowed better defenders with better ath / spd to pick up the defensive slack which likely contributed to the (relatively) poor shooting night.

Could have sworn that Seble made a change to the engine that when a player took more than half the shots (or had more than 50% of the distro, not quite the same, I know, but close), his percentages/efficiency/accuracy/output, whatever you want to call it, started to get progressively worse.
