A few questions... Topic

So I'm into my 3rd season in HD, and I have a few questions:

1) In every guide I've read and every HD coach I've talked to, they all agree that doing recruiting pull downs should be done after the first recruiting cycle, I've done this with a C- and B- prestige team and ended up losing about 1/3 of my budget both times due to DII or a higher prestige DIII team doing the same thing I was doing. I can't battle at all, I tried battling a A- prestige team with a B- and got absolutely destroyed, even tho I had 3x the budget of him. Should I just be smart about it and wait for dropdowns? especially until my prestige is higher?

2) How do you determine your PF and C positions?

PF = better BH, Pass, Per, SPD than a C?

C = better LP, Reb than a PF?

3) I understand that BH effects turn over rate, but does it also help a player drive to the basket? And then LP determines whether or not a player scores from underneath the basket, AKA tip in, layup etc.

Thanks in advance

1) I'd suggest a combo of waiting for droppers (but still make the calls early to see if they'll drop or not) and some pulldowns about a day into the cycle, as opposed to right away. This lets the big dogs get their bone first, but then you can be second...

2) more or less, yes. I'd throw in ATH on the PF side, too. and I'm never too worried about the PER difference unless all others are the same.

3) BH helps in scoring for both Gs and Bigs, probably more the former, and nobody can say exactly how. LP is for non-jumpers, back-to-the-basket plays, and layups/dunks.

1)  Nauds, I usually don't battle much in Div-III.  Not enough $$$ to do that.  But then again, I only play in Div-III long enough to move up :)

2)  I usually look at ATH, BH, Passing, and PER to determine my PF and REB, LP for the C ... but I switch them around based on matchups through out the season.  (If my PF play better Def, I may move him to C to cover scorer on the other team, etc.)

3) From the players guide:  Ballhandling (bh): refers to a player's ability take care of the ball. Like passing, applies to all positions on the floor but carries more weight as you move away from the basket. Ballhandling is important for players you want to be "slashers".

I think BH minimizes turnovers and allows for driving (so good for the PF spot) ... and LP helps you finish.

A- to B- is a negligible difference in D3.  No way you should have been destroyed in that battle with 3x the money, everything else being equal.  Did you factor in carryover and postseason money?  Were you recruiting from a distance disadvantage?

I think there are times when battling is fine in D3, you just have to choose those battles very wisely.  Also, I know most people won't suggest doing it, but I think sometimes the risk is worth the reward to attempt a first-cycle pulldown.  But that comes with experience to know when that might be a possibility.
