question about practices minutes Topic

should i put minutes into categories that don't really relate to the position?

for example, this sg   http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=2057768

should i put 8 minutes into lp and reb, or just let him drop?

thanks

I'm still relatively new to this game, but from my experience I wouldn't consider LP as not necessary for a guard.. I've found that guards with a high LP/PER score much more + get to the line much more. I think they just become much more versatile and they don't have to soley rely on the 3 pointer to score. In your case, his 8 LP is pretty worthless and probably won't get high enough to make much of an impact anyway. But for the future, don't overlook LP when recruiting guards.

Also, I've never seen guys drop more than 3 points in a core category even when getting 0 practice time, so they won't plummet. But a guy with 8 LP, whats the difference if it's 8 or 0 IMO.

Here's my example: http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=2085618

Both LP & REB are helpful at every position.  To be sure, I would prioritize minutes to the core categories and away from non-core, but I would  not give up on big improvement potential in non-core categories.  In other words, you will be making a mistake if you let a category drop that is black or blue, but not red.  This is especially true if all the core categories are red or you know they are pretty close.  If they are maxed, then I would put more than 8 into either LP or REB.  A slight preference toward LP, IMO, but not if REB were blue, but LP were only black (esp. starting in single digits).
