State of the game? Topic

I'd like to get back into this game but I wonder where it's at right now.  When I left D1 was messed up (IMO) because it was stuck in the early 2000s.  It didn't matter how well you did at a non elite school, it was always an uphill struggle when it came to recruiting because your prestige was going to be stuck at B- (or whatever) unless you somehow won the NT every year (when you would still be at a disadvantage against some schools).

The D2 and D3 conferences where things were more even were very lacking in human players, often with a conference having a couple of humans at best.

Have things changed?

D3 has a lot of humans now.

I got DI Wyoming to an A

And I'm guessing couldn't keep them above a B+ on a regular basis even though you are a great coach.  That's what I disliked about the game before.  I want to play Hoops DYNASTY where what I do matters long term, where I can build a dynasty.  Not be tied to a 4 season cycle that sets me up for failure unless I am at the "right" schools.

I like the way D2 and D3 work but I couldn't find conferences that had enough humans to make it worthwhile.

I guess if this hasn't substantially changed, I'll just keep waiting.

The MWC in that world only had 4 humans, i assume that if the conference was marginally better, It would have stayed higher longer.

wooden d3 and rupp d2 are very good. My d2 is prob 60% full with a 4-5 full to nearly full conferences. Could be a bit fuller but wouldn't classify it as nearly empty.

Wooden D3 just started the recruiting period, but it is as full as I've seen since I started a few years ago.

I have two D3 teams and one D2 (never had a desire for D1, largely for the reasons you list), and during the last coach-hire cycle for all 3 servers we saw a major influx of new coaches.  My Naismith conference has now filled up 100% with humans.

Now, granted, a lot of these new players are using the free trial and the influx is largely due to (1) The NCAA tournament;  (2) WIS Promotions, but if you're looking for a conference with mostly human opponents it's no longer that hard to find.

Best D2 is Iba, best D3 is Wooden. 2 and 6 full conferences, respectively.

I take that back. My wooden conference has one sim, and it's calling your name.

Naismith D3 has 7 full conferences, and 10 more conferences who only have 1 or 2 sims. In fact in the whole D3 world there are 293 human coaches, and 91 sim coaches.

There was a big influx this season, but even before then it was greater than 50% humans. Not at all hard to find a good conference to join.

wow, very impressive figures in Naismith.  I just added up D3 Wooden and we have 162 SIMS.  Quite the chasm b/w these 2 worlds as far as those numbers go.

Be the change you want to see.

i'd say recruiting is now easier in D1, but moving into a big conference is still pretty tough.  so it will probably take a few seasons at a mid major to get them to at least B- to move up to a big conference

If recruiting is easier in D1, it's only because there are fewer humans with which to contend.  Recruiting at the upper levels of D1 certainly doesn't seem any easier to me though.  Of course, the fact that there are several A+, A, and A- prestige schools in my immediate recruiting area could be why it doesn't seem easy!

Many of them are one and doners who will play out their fox sports promotion credit and then be done. I can see as many as 60-70 coaches leaving.
