had a player out for the season in the 1st game of the playoffs.  Can I replace him after putting him on the DL, and if so, how do I know who is eligible to replace him on the 25 man roster?

You can.   I think it's between series though.    Anyone on your 40 at roster expansion will be available.   Edit roster, status will show who's eligible.

I came here to post this exact question.

The help page is very specific that players on the 40-man before rosters expand, but not on the ML roster, can only be added to the playoff roster between rounds.

I can't find anything specific about players already on the ML roster replacing injured players.  Is it also just between rounds, or can it happen at any time?

My #2 SP just went down.  He could come back to pitch game 6 or 7 of the WS (if I make it).  If I put him on the DL, he won't come off until after the WS is over.

If I keep him on the roster and go a player short, one long extra inn game could wipe out my staff.  If I knew I could replace SP2 for the next game, I'd probably activate a LR and set him to mop up as an insurance policy.

But if I can't get the LR on the playoff roster until the next round, it might make sense to risk the long game in exchange for getting my #2 SP back to pitch game 6.

My assumption is I can try it & see what happens. But I also don't know if I take SP2 off the playoff roster and I can see that it didn't take effect for the next game, can I then add him back so he's there for the WS?  Or once I take him off is there some restriction of putting him back?  Or is there a risk of demotion penalty for taking a player on/off the playoff roster?

Anybody know this for sure?

Between series.    Don't DL him but take him off the playoff roster.  Then add him back before the WS starts.

Thanks.  That does seem to be how it works.

I tried add/remove from playoff roster without putting SP2 on the DL to see what would happen.  It's blocked in the middle of a playoff series.  Can't even queue it up for the next round.

What I don't know for sure (and I'm not willing to find out) is if it would be any different if I put SP2 on the DL first, and then tried remove/add from playoff roster.

I'm pretty sure in MLB changing the playoff roster in the middle of a series requires permission from the commissioner.  Since we can't fake injuries in HBD, it seems that replacing a player with a real injury should be allowed.  But it's not.

??? If you mean, if you put the SP2 on the DL immediately, could you then add a replacement during a playoff series, the answer is no. You could add someone to the ML roster for all the good it would do, but he wouldn't appear in the manager's office.

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks.
