I have a coach asking me for help.  He sent a coach's call to a recruit and got the following response:

'"Hi coach, how's it goin'? Listen, I've been talking to my parents about ******** and they have some concerns about it. Can we set up a call with my folks sometime?""

I told the coach I am helping that this recruit should be willing to accept offers?  He gave the player two HV's which the player rejected.   So my advice failed.

Did I get it wrong?  I must admit, I don't do any recruiting any longer in d3 with low prestige, so I'd appreciate a little help to pass along.

No, you were correct.  Tell him sometimes they randomly reject visits, even when they're "open" to being recruited.  I've always just added some phone calls or maybe 1 SV and tried again when that's happened to me.  They always seem to take the effort the 2nd time.

Yea sometimes you have to put a little more effort in before you can give them a visit. Its more common with low prestige schools.

There does seem to be a narrow grey area where they say they're recruitable but still more likely than not to reject HVs.  That happens with dropdowns periodically as well - you get the drop message and then they reject your visits.  1 scouting trip or even a handful of phone calls usually gets them to accept, though.

agree with the others - I'd send a small package of calls and letters - I think these type kids are sitting on some kind of cusp where the initial call indicates recruitable but HV responses come up negative - just a little bit of accepted effort usually tips them into fully recruitable. Even a couple evals should do it, and the effort is non-refusable so that's a good option too

I think its a glitch he should have accepted them and id send a ticket and be slightly irked if it were me.
