If a recruit has you as their childhood favorite. Does that pretty much guarantee you get the kid?

It is worth a little something with emphasis on little. 3 letters? 1 home visit? I don't know the exact worth of being a recruits favorite school but I doubt any experienced coach even notices it anymore.

very small effect

it may be big enough to matter at DIII, but I dont have direct recent knowledge - the effect is small enough at DI that it hardly matters given the budgets there

I've never seen a recruit have a D3 school listed as their favorite.  Only D1.

I believe it acts as a multiplier to your recruiting efforts.  I don't know how much though.
