Been a long time since I've advised someone in DII -- do you have to hit the RS button while recruiting to get someone to take and RS these days?  Used to be you did not, just kept offering it till they accepted.  Also, how much do you have to spend on a guy to get him to accept the RS button?  Do they ever say "You crazy?"  Thanks.

I never inform of RS during recruiting.  It's an easy way to lose a recruit.

I've had the best luck with just waiting til they're enrolled and sitting them out (leave off the depth chart), then try to RS after the 2nd exhibition game.  If their WE drops, restore eligibility, wait a game and try again.

It seems that having good players ahead of the candidate also helps to convince them to accept the RS.

It's also a way to guarantee they take a redshirt.  The "You crazy" e-mail seems to be standard when informing them during recruiting.
