Setting the Budget Topic

I would like to suggest that you have the ability to save your budget for next season anytime after the rollover.

I just ran into a very frustrating situation whereby a league rolled over and sat waiting to fill for about a week.  I have had my budget for this team decided and "saved" (so I don't forget what I want to do) as a note on the side for at least that long.  I was unable to check WIS Thursday to Saturday morning last week due to an out of town work commitment.  Of course the league fills, starts and Saturday when I check in my previous seasons budget is carried over.  Yikes.

Budget is such an important part of the game I don't see any reason why the "save" function couldn't apply the budget so things like not being available for a day don't mess up a season.  Every other part of the year you have a good idea of what you need to do.  Everybody knows that the Rule V is about a week after the league starts, and the Draft is at game 60.  You have plenty of time to plan for those things in advance.  The idea that I get a one day window to set my budget and it comes at a random time (once the league fills) seems bad to me.

Thoughts?

Seems like a reasonable idea.

You can start working on the budget (and saving it) once the world is approved and falls into a scheduled HBD cycle.  So you really have budget day plus some part of the previous day to work on budgets.

But I agree that anytime after rollover would be a better idea, especially if the world takes some time to fill.

+1 Maybe it could set up a program to copy the notes field and whatever addition/subtraction mistakes would be adjusted in salaries. I''m sure WIS would say it wouldn't be possible until the world is approved, which makes sense... And it couldn't be done the previous season for obvious reasons.

Too late now for tigers, but this isn't a new problem. Many of us, faced with time/day issues simply asked for help from another owner. No big deal. Plenty of owners always willing to help, and certainly a legitimate commish would, too.

The problem with setting it before rollover is attempting to calculate what you'd actually need for next season and not locking yourself out of your ARB/FA.   Without doubt, someone would mess this up, miss budget day and lose an ARB guy because they couldn't afford him.    This would lead to an amazing fit on how the system doesn't work.

And, if you're like me, what you need for next season is adjusted constantly during the season.   2-3 trades can make a world of difference.

I was wrong.

I calculate my budget as soon as I have time after a world rolls over and put the amount in the notes.  Budget notes can be saved.

Does seem silly that we can't put that amount in the actual budget fields & save those.

Would probably take a solid hour of programming time to fix this.  Too bad for us WIS seems to have decided HBD is perfect as it is and has given up on improving the game.
