Tim, there is a thread pinned for new players to get a mentor or three. Its a great place for new players to get guidance. I'd recommend starting there.

Definately get a mentor. There is a very steep learning curve. Be warned. HBD is very addicting.

Id recomend looking at guys that are consistently wiing and try to figure out what works for them

1) contact at least 2 people on the mentor list, 3 would be better. Different perspectives help.
2) Sitemail them with specific questions about things like ratings, trades, building for short term vs long term ect.
