Red shirt along with an Ineligible player Topic

I am aware that if you have 2 walk-ons the overall team doesn't develop as well.  How does having an ineligible along with a red-shirt compare??  I don't want to redshirt if it will be a negative on the group.

any thoughts?

1. The penalty for excessive walk-ons is miniscule and is usually countered by the faster-than-average growth the "real" players get due to extra playing time. Personally, I wouldn't use the fear of the "penalty" as the basis for a decision.

2. I don't think the penalty would apply in the scenario you describe anyway. The Sim would see both the redshirt and the ineligible as scholarship players and your practice growth would be normal for all involved.

i agree with rednu's point  #2

i dont think you're looking at any sort of 'penalty'

i'd say you're safe to RS

redshirts practice so that won't hurt anyway...

i had two walk ons with my charleston team last season. my non-wo players improved an average of 59 points bc of ample playing time...and that's with two jrs (this season they are sr's) who both had rs's in their frosh and soph seasons, respectively, and were pretty close to maxed out.

I always thought it was more than 2 walk ons is what hurt your development.  Like dac said, your RS will practice, so you won't lose that development spot.
