First question:
You have won a divisional title by a single game in a close race that did not allow you to rest your starters. Your team sweeps your opponents in 3 games in the divisional playoff, and your potential opponents are now 2-1 in their divisional series, meaning they must play at least one more game while you don't.
Does that day of games count toward resting your team ? Mine badly needs a day if it is to have any chance in the LCS, and it would be nice to think that there is an advantage in winning a series sooner.
Second question:
If the answer to the first question is NO, then,
If you were up 3-0 in an LCS, would it be advantageous, leaving aside the risk of then losing 4 straight, to tank a game with a second-rate pitcher so as to, ironically and bizarrely, rest your team and pitching staff by extending the series so that there would be an additional game that would count as a rest day for your starters ?
For sanity's sake, and because I highly doubt there is any chance of scenario 2 happening in this particular LCS (the opposite is more likely, which is what I am trying to avoid with these questions), I am rooting for a yes answer to number one.
Thanks.
