Penalized for an injury? Topic

I am in the beginning stages of rebuilding my team.  I found the point guard, Michael Campbell, I wanted and had to take him away from a sim team.  In the effort I promised minutes and a starting position.  He broke his wrist in the first game of the season and couldn't even practice for 9 games after that.  He started practicing when his health recovered back to around 65% and I started playing him and starting him at around 80%.  His work ethic dropped 13 points after the first game he came back to start.  His minutes/game is back up to his promised amount, but his work ethic hasn't improved at all yet.  Will it improve or am I just screwed?  Was I supposed to start the guy as soon as he was eligible at 65%?

Players who are above 60 percent will count that game toward their "promise" expectations. So if you didn't start him or play him his minutes, then he'll be miffed over it. The good news is as you play more games the 2-3 games that he probably sat will become a smaller percentage of his overall number of eligible games. Once his minutes per game (for the games he sees himself as eligible) hits 80-90 percent of what he was promised and/or the number of games started hits about 80 percent of those that he was eligible to start in, his WE should rebound most if not all the way back (he might be -1 or -2 still, but you should get back most if not all of the 13)

Thanks, rednu.  I have a follow up question......Since his health is so low at 60-65%, is he more likely to get re-injured or is he just going to be at that percentage of his ability, i.e. his normal speed is 61, so at 60% health his game game time speed would essentially be 36?  If' that is true than the player should only expect that percentage of minutes/starts, which wouldn't matter for me since I still had him benched.

1. My understanding is that he is not more likely to get hurt again.

2. I apply the health percentage to the player's ratings, but I use it as a very loose guide.  As far as the player's promised start/minutes expectation, these guys are stubborn whiners.  To them, it's just healthy enough or not healthy enough.  If the guy thinks he's healthy enough and isn't playing, he gets bitchy.

I think it's a widely held forum belief that the percentage of health does not directly translate to the affect the injury has on the player's stats and performance (so in your example, the player with  61 speed who is 60 percent healthy will NOT be playing as if his speed is 36. He won't be playing at 61, but conventional wisdom says it isn't as drastic as what a rating-times-percent of health calculation will show). At least that's how I interpret what the group-think on that subject has been on these forums. In reality, it's one of those things that I'm not sure anyone playing truly knows the answer to.

There is, according to the game literature somewhere (which may or may not be up-to-date...) a statement to the effect that players playing at less than 100 percent do have an elevated risk of further injury. How elevated, I don't know. I typically try to hold players out until they hit the 80 percent range and haven't ever had a re-injury issue. (I can see fate and irony conspiring now to pimpslap the heck out of me in the near future for having written that...)

And just to clarify what I said earlier -- he's not going to expect to have played the 9 games that he was forced to sit. His expectation will be limited only to games where he was 1. above 60 percent and 2. eligible to have played.

if there is literature stating he is more likely to be injured it is out of date. seble has stated that health % has no bearing on injury chance in new engine. I don't remember where, and I don't want to dig for it, so maybe I'm mistaken, but I feel pretty confident on this one...
